Representative of Tibetan community attends 2nd world Buddhist Summit

The representative of HH Dalai Lama to Kathmandu Nepal, Mr.Wangchok Tsering has attended the inauguration of the 2nd World Buddhist Summit at Lumbini, the Birth place of lord Buddha, But owing to Chinese pressure to the organizers he was not able to attend the meetings.

The invitation to Mr. Wangchok Tsering was in the form of a representative of Tibetan Community in Nepal.

During the Buddhist Summit there has been lot of discussion and strong urges from some section of the organizers about inviting the HH Dalai Lama himself or his representative, but in actuality they Could not managed to invite.

Over 120 delegates of 28 countries including VIPs from eight countries including India, China, Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia and Egypt participated the summit. The participants decided to hold the summit once every four years, according to reports. The first summit was held in Lumbini in 1998.

His Majesty King Gyanendra had formally inaugurated the Second World Buddhist Summit on Wednesday.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in his greetings to the 2nd World Buddhist Summit in Lumbini on Wednesday urged for world peace and said, “The Buddha’s message was one of peace and compassion, but also one of mindfulness-of being fully aware of oneself, one’s actions and the world which one lives.”
