New Delhi, December 2 – On 2nd December 2004, the RTYC, Delhi held a demonstration in Jantar Mantar to protest against the illegal death sentence of Tulku Tenzin Delek, who is to be executed this very day. This peaceful but effective march began at 10:30 in the morning and the thing that makes this protest march stand out from all the other demonstrations to date was the little playacting done by some volunteers who led the procession. Their street drama displayed a Tibetan monk being beaten and ill treated by some Chinese officials. The monk in the play was made to look like Tulku Tenzin Delek.

More than 100 Tibetan youth participated in this protest, raising their voices against the injustice of the Chinese government and also urging people all over the world to support their cause. The RTYC, Delhi declared that they condemned death penalty and that the trial of the accused is unfair and unjust. Their slogans reminded India of the Indo-China war of 1962 and asked the United Nations to wake up and give justice. When the march came to an end, Sherap Gyatso, an RTYC member, gave a summary on the life of Tulku Tenzin Delek and how the people in Tibet had benefited through his social welfare activities. Next came the education officer of RTYC, Miss Woesar Dolma who enlightened the gathering further on the same subject. Mr Lobsang Tsundue, PRO (RTYC, Delhi)expressed in clear cut words that the accused Tulku Tenzin Delek was totally innocent and should be released immediately. Mr Tashi Tsering, president(RTYC,Delhi) brought the protest to an end by asking the people present to sing the Tibetan and Indian national anthems, respectively.
