Bharat-Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM), one of the most active Indian Tibet support groups for the Tibetan freedom struggle has formally set-up its new unit at Mundgod on 12 November 2004. In the presence of Shri. Mangesh Bende, Hubli and Mr. Dhondup Dorjee, Representative, a meeting was held at Doeguling Tibetan Settlement, Mundgod with an active participation from the local Indian people and the executive members of local Tibetan non-governmental organizations. Following executive members of BTSM, Mundgod was formally constituted to strengthen the India-Tibet relationship and organizing more activities for the Tibetan cause, which has been a common struggle for both countries.

A meeting has discussed on the future activities of unit and decided to organize a seminar on 10th December to commemorate the anniversary of Nobel Peace Prize awarded to His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1989 and the Universal Human Rights Day. Representative of Doeguling Tibetan Settlement on behalf of Tibetan people in the area offered a Tibetan traditional scarf to the newly elected executive members of BTSM, Mundgod as a token of gratitude to the Indian people. The central office of BTSM extended warm appreciation to Mr. Tenzin Samphel, former Vice President of TYC, who gave much of his time and energy in the formation this new unit of BTSM.
