Chennai, October 2 – Dark clouds and incessant rain on a bleak morning did not deter the spirit of the TSAM members from standing by their pledge to observe a one-day Fast. They went about putting up a ‘Shaminar’ oblivious to the heavy rain, puddles and messy road.
The 2nd “Fast for Free Tibet and World Peace” is one of the many projects that TSAM undertakes every year, with the sole goal to raising awareness among the Indian friends about the Tibetan Issue.
The Hunger Fast began with a group prayer that was repeated at the beginning of every new hour. About hundred TSAM members, clad in bright yellow slogan shirts with powerful messages rekindled a strong spirit of freedom and faith in themselves.
Banner display, pamphlet distribution, press-interviews, inter-personal communication and information dissemination to Indian Visitors were the highlights of the day.
Our program gained momentum, when a host of Indian Friends gave a backing support and with a keen interest shown by the press.
The Fast is geared towards accomplishing the chief aims and objectives or our demands
1 To foster world peace and harmony.
2 To end, violation of Basic Human Rights in Tibet.
3 To safeguard Tibets ecology.
4 The immediate release of the youngest political prisoner The XIth Panchen Lama and Tulku Tenzin Delek.
5pm marked the preferred standard time to end the Hunger Fast. As dusk fell, our members dispersed with a heavy heart, but also with a sense of achievement for having contributed to creating a new chapter in the History of TSAM.
