Dharamsala, October 2 – Come October and the lone Tibetan showman is out in the wild. As usual, the man who initiated the first beauty pageant of the Tibetan community appeared on the stage in his red suit, which Prince of Wales so admired, that he remarked, “nice suit”, in Delhi last year during a performance by the former.

The reception party for the Shambhala Miss Tibet 2004 was held at the Asia Health Resorts near Strawberry village last evening, courtesy of Asia Health Resorts. Among guests present at the dinner reception were S. Zahur Zaidi, the Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate, and Mr. Sood, District Revenue Officer.

Local and international media were also present to cover the event. The five girls introduced themselves and posed for the media. The girls offered traditional Tibetan scarves to the eminent guests as they walked past the glittering lights and camera flashes in the Tibetan traditional dress.

The swimsuit round which is closed for the public will be held on 8 October. The final round of the pageant will be held on 10 October. The Free Spirit Festival from 5-10 of this month will also feature a Tibetan film festival where an award ceremony will also take place.

With one of the six girls withdrawing her participation due to health problem the competition might seem less close as it would be otherwise. However, all the five girls are equally confident of having the head for that coveted crown.
