Protection of Tibet a must for national Security: BTSM

Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch, Sikkim, which was formed in April last year, organized a Tibet Kavya (Poetry) Samvad (dailogue) at Nepali Sahitya Parishad Bhavan on Sept 5, 2004 in Gangtok.

Somnath Poudyal, Minister of Agriculture,Horticulture and Cash Crop Development was the chief guest on the occasion and was accompanied by Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, National Co-convener of Core Group for Tibetan Cause as the guest of Honour.

More than 25 Local poets, including Bhawani Ghimirey, M.S Khan, Kapilmani Adhikari, Kamal Kumar Bhungchen and others recited their poems during the day-long Kavi Goshti. The theme of all poems was the ancient perspective of the social, cultural and spiritual relation and unity between India and Tibet.

Ashok Singh of BTSM in his brief address said that for the security of India, Tibet’s protection is a must. He said that India and Tibet had several things in common apart from the long boundary India shares with Tibet. Mr Poudyal while expressing gratefulness to the organizer said that such a functions plays a vital role in giving moral support to the Tibetan Community.

Earlier, students of Thumi Sambhota Tibetan School presented a beautiful welcome song. It was also announced on the occassion that all the poems, which were recited at the function would be published in the form of a book by India Tibet Coordination Office.

The Goshti was also attended by a large number of Tibetan people including Tibetan Welfare Officer Nawang Norbu.
