Asian Film Festival in Mumbai (21-28 Aug. 2004) was to screen five films on Tibet as part of their 100 odd films collected from different countries from all over Asia. However, due to political pressure from the Chinese Embassy in India, they withdrew two films on Tibet: Martin Scorsese’s ‘Kundun’ a film on the life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Jean Jacques Annaud’s ‘Seven years in Tibet’. As a response to the Asian Film Festival’s surrendering to the Chinese pressure, Mithibai College Film Society organises a one day Tibetan film festival.
The films will be screened on 25th August, Wednesday, 2004 at Juhu Jagruti Hall, Opp Mithibai College, Vile Parle, Bombay between 12 noon to 6pm.
