Brussels, July 6 – The Office of Tibet, Brussels, organised a formal official reception to celebrate the 69th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Nalanda Tibetan Institute based in the city of Brussels. The official reception was attended by the Members of the Belgian Parliament, senior diplomats from various Embassies, senior officials from the European Council and the Commission, officials from Intergovernmental Organisations, representatives from the various Buddhist centres, leaders of the Tibet support groups and the board members of the Tibetan community.
The evening began with offering of long life prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama by the Lamas of the Institute and offering of scarves to the portrait of His Holiness by Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen and Lamas of the Institute. While addressing the gathering, Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen urged for the continued support from the international community to the nonviolence and peaceful struggle of Tibetan people in order to resolve the Tibetan problem as envisaged by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the mutual benefit of both the Tibetan and Chinese people.
The Tibetan community in Belgium will organise the celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 69th Birthday in the city of Antwerpen. It is expected to be participated by over three hundred Tibetans and Tibet supporters.
