At the end of the 29th day of the indefinite hunger strike, Ms. Dolma Choephel, one of the determined hunger striker lost consciousness at around 7.30 pm on April 30, 2004. She has been taken by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to Bellevue Hospital in New York City. At the time of reporting she is under medical investigation.
The indefinite hunger strike movement however continues and the other two determined hunger strikers continuing to be alert.
Tibetan Youth Congress strongly urges the United Nations Secretary General Mr. Kofi Annan to immediately respond to the appeal made by the three hunger strikers.
