RTYC, MN Token Hunger Strike at State Capitol, St. Paul

About 35 people attended the token hunger strike at the state capital St.Paul, MN in support of the indefinite hunger strike in NY. The day began at 8 am with prayers from the Gyutoe monks, one minute silence was observed in the memory of all the people who sacrificied their lives for Tibet’s cause. RTYC, MN President Tenzin Gawa thanked the participants and highlighted on the importance of today’s hunger strike and the indifinite hunger strike in New York. President of the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota (TAFM) Mr. Ngodup Tsering la was the guest speaker.

Urgent appeal memo, flyers were handed to the Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor’s Office. We were also able to send the appel memo to all the members of Senate and House of Representatives. Senator Norm Coleman took the time to meet us and assured his best. Appeal petition was also faxed to President George Bush, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Senator John Kerry , Senatar Edward Kennedy , Senator Mark Dayton, Minority leader Nancy Pelosi, US permanent Rep. to UN John Negroponte for their kind consideration and immediate action.

The day ended at 5pm with quick prayers from Gyutoe monks and Tibetan national anthem was also sung in full swing.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers for their time and support. Without them, this event would not be possible, THUKJE-CHE!!!
