TYC led Indefinite Hunger Strike update: Day Nine

The movement of Indefinite Hunger Strike kept mounting with support and solidarity pouring from all over the world. The Regional chapters of Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) took initiatives in organizing various campaigns such as token hunger strike, candle light vigil, blood signature campaign, Fax campaign etc. by urging United Nations to meet the demands of the hunger strikers. SFT released press statement urging all over the world to start mail campaign to urge UN Secretary General and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to respond to the hunger strikers.

Today marks the Ninth Day of the indefinite hunger strike and the hunger strikers were visited by several hundreds of supporters expressing their solidarity and support, many of them even participated in a token hunger strike along with the three hunger strikers. Mrs. Pamela Kraft, the Director of Tribal link at United Nations office visited the hunger strikers and expresses her concern and solidarity for the Tibetan movement.

In every passing day, the hunger strikers were loosing their weights but their determination and commitment led to the inner strength and high spirit to remain constantly in fasting until their demands are met. Physicians are examining the state of health of the hunger strikers regularly.

The indefinite hunger strike outside the United Nations in New York has started on April 2, 2004.

RICHARD GERE TO VISIT INDEFINITE HUNGER STRIKERS ON APRIL 13, 2004.

The Hollywood actor, Mr. Richard Gere will be visiting the Indefinite Hunger strikers along with some prominent personalities on April 13, to express his solidarity and support. He will also presides over a press conference.
