HYDERABAD – Speakers at a gathering of Tibetan students in the city on Sunday called upon the people to realise the serious threat posed by China after illegally occupying Tibet .
They said that there was a need to make Indians aware about the Tibetan struggle for self-determination and violation of human rights by China .
The guest of honour at the gathering, IPS officer C Anjaneya Reddy said that the message of non-violence and human rights should be spread in order to make people understand the value of freedom.
He congratulated the 40-member Tibetan students’ team for successfully completing a week-long awareness cycle rally on Tibet and its occupation.
The students covered 415 km and stopped at 16 towns en route from Vijayawada to Hyderabad .
Tibetan Youth Congress representative Labsang Yeshi said that had China not occupied Tibet , India would have saved millions of dollars each year which it presently spends on guarding its borders with China.
