Nepal assured of increased trade with Tibet

Kathmandu, November 2 – The government will open news ways and opportunities to enhance Nepal-Tibet trade, informed the newly-appointed consular general of Tibet, Lila Mani Poudel while meeting businessmen here today.

Poudel was talking with businessmen, affiliated with the Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) yesterday, on the occasion of his appointment to such a crucial government post. He ‘assured’ of his commitment to seek more opportunities for the growth of the business sector in a bid to give a boost to existing trade and economic linkages between Tibet and Nepal.

Businessmen from Lalitpur district urged the government to diversify export trade to Tibet and, regularise information flow related to trade and export sector activities which will help in utilising business opportunities in both the countries. It will also further intensify relations between the two countries in days ahead, opined businessmen.

Speaking at the meeting, first vice-president of LCCI, Deepak Narsingh Shrestha opined that as Tibet is emerging as a modern place, there is an urgent need to exploit the existing potentials in Tibet.

As Tibet and Nepal have historical relationship in terms of trade and other economic matters, time is ripe now for making them more useful and productive, said Shrestha in the meeting.

President of LCCI, Indra Bahadur Shrestha also discussed about trade between Nepal and Tibet on the occasion.
