Delhi, October 22 – About 200 members of Delhi Tibetan Youth Congress took out demonstration from Jantar Mantar to Parliament Street. The demonstration was organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress to strongly condemn the visit of Chinese Senior Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo to India. The Chinese Special Representative and Senior Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo, will arrive here late on Wednesday evening for the first round of talks with his Indian counterpart, Brajesh Mishra, on the contentious border dispute between the two countries.

Mr. Dai, Senior Vice-Foreign Minister, is high up in the Chinese Communist Party hierarchy, and has been involved in discussions relating to the North Korean nuclear issue as well. Mr. Mishra, National Security Adviser and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, is an old China hand and had been posted in Beijing as well.

The terms of the Dai-Mishra dialogue were set out in the joint statement issued by Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Wen: “The two sides agreed to each appoint a Special Representative to explore from the political perspective of the overall bilateral relationship the framework of a boundary settlement.”

Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), the largest non-governmental organization in the Tibetan Community has strongly opposed and condemns the talks on the issue of Sino-Indian borders. China never had any border problem with India because the two countries never shared the one in history, until the China forcibly annexed of Tibet in 1949. TYC will not consider and accept any agreement comes out of this meeting between the two nations. While submitting a memorandum to the Chinese Embassy and Mr. Brajesh Mishra, TYC appeal the Indian government that instead of holding boundary talks with China, India must take this opportunity to raise the deteriorating situation of human rights in Tibet and the plight of Tibetan people suffering under the Chinese occupation.

TYC further pledges to continue their demand and struggle for the complete independence of Tibet consisting of all the three provinces.
