October 10 – The Nepalese border police have arrested 23 more tibetans at a place called Birgunj which is direct border with India. According reliable sources in kathmandu 25 tibetans fleeing tibet through Solokhumbu which lies to the east of nepal bordering western tibet, and two of them due to health problem managed to fly to kathmandu from Solokhumbu airport and arrived to the tibetan reception centre, the remaining 23 travelled to Kotari and instead of getting to kathmandu they reached Birgunj, and there the Nepalese police arrested them.
Three days back 11 tibetans were also arrested by the Nepalese police in north western part of Nepal. According to Mr. Wangchuk Tsering, the representative of the tibetan exile government to Nepal, the aothorities at the place of arrest have informed the Nepalese authorities in kathmandu, and through the office of the united nation’s high commissioner for refugees in kathmandu the above mentioned arrested tibetans would be brought to kathmandu and will be entrusted to the tibetan reception centre as usual.The tibetan reception centre has, under the guidiance of UNHCR, sent staffs to get them.
Since Nepal deported 18 tibetans late this May, the issue of tibetans travelling via Nepal to Dharamsala (India) has become a sensitive focus of international attention and Nepal is showing the signs for good.
