Dharamshala, Oct. 4: A Tibetan monk of Ngaba Kirti monastery has been arrested by the Chinese police on September 19, said Kanyag Tsering of the exiled base Kirti monastery.

Sonam Palden, aged 22 years was nabbed from his monastic quarters, an unnamed source said, adding that his arrest might have to do with contents he wrote about Tibetan language preservation in his WeChat.

Sonam joined Ngaba monastery as a child, and belonged to Chayul Tsonagtsang division of Ngaba.

Ngaba has been a hotbed of protests against the Chinese government since 2008 Pan Tibet uprising.
