DHARAMSHALA, June 20: Exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama touched down at the Gaggal airport near Dharamshala from New Delhi earlier today after his 11-day visit to the Baltic states.
He was received by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Home Minister Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang and representatives of various Tibetan NGOs.
On his arrival at the arrival gate, he told reporters that he is in good health. Speculation was rife earlier in June suggesting the Tibetan leader was suffering from advanced stage prostrate cancer.
The Tibetan leader during his schedule in the Baltic States, gave a religious teaching to over 4000 Baltic and Russian Buddhists in Riga, Latvia and also delivered talks on “Human Values in Education” and “The Art of Happiness” at University of Vilnius and Siemens Arena respectively. The Dalai Lama also met eight Members of the Lithuanian Parliament, Lithuanian Parliamentary Tibet Group and supporters.
For his next schedule, the Tibetan leader who is set to turn 83 next month will visit Ladakh early July and is scheduled to give teachings and public talks there. The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to visit European countries of Germany and Switzerland in September.
