DHARAMSHALA, JAN 23: His Holiness the Dalai Lama today returned to Dharamshala after presiding over a two-week Kalachakra initiation in Bodh Gaya where close to 200000 devotees from over 90 countries converged.
The Tibetan Prime Minister (Sikyong) Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and other dignitaries received the Tibetan spiritual leader, who arrived from Delhi after gracing two separate events organized by IFFCO Ladies Organization and The Mother’s International School on January 21.
The Tibetan spiritual leader in his address to the students said that the future of the 21st century lies in the hands of young people and that they have the opportunity to make this century more peaceful and gentle.
“As the generation with responsibility for the 21st century, it will be up to you to create a better world, a more peaceful, happier century. You’ll need to have vision and not to be content with the existing system. You’ll need to use your critical thinking in order to further develop your human intelligence,” the Dalai Lama said.
His Holiness also spoke on the lack of and the need to include moral ethics into the curriculum of modern education, which he said is more oriented towards ‘materialism’ causing more ‘educated troublemakers’.
The Dalai Lama, who is returning to his abode after a lengthy schedule of over a month in South India and Bodh Gaya yesterday had a discussion on neuroscience and mind with Professor Richard Davidson at the Tibetan Youth Hostel in Delhi.
The 81-year old on February 5 would return to the national capital for a public talk on ‘Reviving Indian Wisdom in Contemporary India’ at Talkatora Stadium at the request of Vidyaloke, an Indian wisdom initiative that aspires to rekindle the Indian legacy of wisdom, intellectual and spiritual curiosity.
