DHARAMSHALA, DEC 20: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has assured Tibetans from Tibet of his ‘good health’. The Tibetan leader was speaking on the sidelines of the Emory Tibet Symposium at Drepung Loseling in Mungod Tibetan settlement, adding that in the coming years they would soon be reunited in Tibet.

“I may be 81 years old but I am physically very healthy and may be in few year’s time, we will soon be reunited in Tibet. So don’t be anxious,” the Dalai Lama said.

With most of them leaving before the Kalachakra initiation following restriction imposed by the Chinese authorities on their families in Tibet, the spiritual leader asked them to pray during the actual Kalachakra Initiation from January 10 to 13, assuring them of prayers and blessings.

While stressing the importance of the young Tibetans to study, the Dalai Lama also stated that accumulation of wealth for social causes is equally important.

“It is important to earn riches but not for personal gain. It should be used in social works such as helping poor people with their educational purposes, building schools and hospitals,” he said, adding that Tibetans should use the business platforms created under Chinese policies.

He also urged the Tibetans refrain from mere rituals and prayers but to study and understand the Tibetan Buddhism thoroughly, which “would be more beneficial.”

The Nobel Peace Laureate is currently in Mundgod for the Emory Tibet Symposium, Bridging Buddhism & Science. A brainchild of his, the seminar holds constructive dialogue between Buddhism and science.
