DHARAMSHALA, Oct. 4: Around a hundred activists including two centrex members – Tsewang Dolma, Information Secretary & Tashi Dhargyal, Social Service Secretary – of the largest pro independence group of the Tibetan Diaspora were arrested by the Delhi police in the Indian capital earlier today following a protest against China’s illegal occupation of Tibet and the demolition drive at Larung Gar Buddhist Institute.
Also among arrested were Tenzin Choedar, President of RTYC Delhi, Sonam Tsering, president of RTYC Rohini. The protest took place at the heavily guarded Chinese Embassy in New Delhi a day ahead of the BRICS Summit 2016 in Goa where leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will meet for a two day event.
Activists from Tibetan Youth Congress and Students for a Free Tibet have already landed in Goa to express similar protests against Chinese president Xi Jinping. The police have been keeping a watchful eye on the movements of Tibetan traders and students in the beach holiday destination.
