DHARAMSHALA, August 15: The Tibetan government in exile known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) today expressed its greetings to the government of India and its people on the 70th Independence Day.

A modest official function was held on the lawns of the Kashag Secretariat here at Ghangchen Kyishong where the Indian tricolor was raised as the Indian national anthem was sung.

Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Minister of Department of Religion and Culture, unfurled the Indian tricolor as the Indian national anthem was sung. Also present were members of the Tibetan cabinet, secretaries of various departments and the cabinet secretary.

“I would like to convey our hearty greetings and many good wishes to all the people of India and especially to the people of Himachal Pradesh on this special occasion on behalf of the CTA and all the Tibetan people,” said Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok.

He also added that CTA is extremely grateful to the Indian government and its people for their continued support, understanding and cooperation on the Tibetan issue.

“We have gone a long way with your kind support and we are still keeping the same spirit in keeping our Tibetan cause alive. We strongly believe that one day with your kind support and cooperation we will be successful in our pursuit,” he said.
