DHARAMSHALA, Feb.16: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is set to engage in public events in the US despite undergoing a “precautionary prostrate treatment” at the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. The Dalai Lama will be giving a short teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind (lojong tsik gyema) and also confer the Generating of Bodhicitta (semkyi) in the morning organized by the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota (TAFM) at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Sunday.
The Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota has also announced of the particular development as being a “joyous occasion of celebration, sharing and growth. The notice posted on their website reads, “The timing of the visit could not have been more auspicious and special to celebrate his presence, receive invaluable teaching and learn from his timeless wisdom.”
While expressing his Losar greetings earlier, His Holiness said of his health and treatment, “I want to tell you that I am doing very well. The treatment takes a few minutes every day, but it takes time to complete the treatment. It is nothing complicated, it’s not serious, there’s nothing to worry about.”
The Tibetan leader has also rescheduled his visit to the Utah State University. His visit to the same was earlier cancelled. The Huntsman Centre at the University will see him for a public speech event in June this year.
An elated resident of Salt Lake City Tsering Dhondup told Fox 13 news that, “We thought someday he would be back, but I didn’t think he’d be back this soon.” A student at the Utah State University Mitchell Orr exclaimed, “That’s so sweet. People were so stoked to hear the news.” More than 11,000 students and faculty are expected to attend the event.”
