DHARAMSHALA, January 12: The trial run of the first Tibetan language search engine, ‘Cloud Tibet’ (beta), commenced on Monday in Xining, capital of Qinghai province. The developer hopes to be able to release it in the second half of the year.
Tselo, Head of the project, said that the database and the semantic unit function were both up and running, according to Xinhua, the official mouthpiece of the Chinese government.
The project that was launched in April 2013 will have ‘news, pictures, video and audio search options’.
Xinhua further reported that a team of more than 150 people from a Tibetan language research center in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province led the project.
“The recognition rate of the system is over 95 percent,” Tselo said.
