Dharamsala, July 11: The digital threshold for indigenous Tibetan products has yet another addition; an Android based App ‘Tibetan Kid’ was launched on the eve of the His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday celebrations in New Delhi.
The app designed primarily for children and beginners of any age group features a composite and interactive game based learning of Tibetan language and culture aimed to improve basic knowledge of the native language in a fun way. It also features other subjects including mathematics and English.
The team of four Tibetan youngsters with backgrounds in animation, event designing and modern artistry living in South Delhi has developed the product in view to give the Tibetan language a digital platform and keeping in sight the accessibility factor of the product, it is launched for any android based smart phone.
The App developer Dhondup Passang who is also an animator says, “Almost everybody today owns a smart phone and especially for the younger Tibetans who are well versed with mobile phones, the app provides an accessible and practical tool to learn or relearn our language, we are further developing an upgraded version of the same app and will be releasing it soon”.
Other Tibetan based apps such as BhoView: Tibetan Text Viewer, Vajra Digital’s Tibetan News and Music, Monlam Tibetan-Eng Dictionary among many others are available on Android and ios.
