DHARAMSHALA, May 10: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today inaugurated the office of a digital news daily called ‘Himachal Abhi Abhi’ and its mobile application on Saturday.
Addressing a modest function, His Holiness said, “India is the most populated democratic country, comparatively very very stable and peaceful. So, in a democratic system, information and media have important role. Different information, perhaps one information cannot describe the reality fully. So, different information; one information looking on one side and another information looking on another side or aspect, that is very good. Then we get fuller picture and utilize human intelligence properly.”
He further said that the many problems which we are facing today like war and violence are man-made problems. “These violence particularly those in the name of religion, is very sad. All major religion carry the same message, teaching of karuna (compassion), compassion, forgiveness. The very source of karuna (compassion) itself is instead causing more violence. I think now we really need more emphasis and pay more attention on our inner values. So, in this respect, media people also have important role to educate people. Just mere education or just mere development of brain alone [has] no guarantee [to] bring genuine happy life.”
The Tibetan Nobel Laureate also noted that in order to have a happy life, happy family, and happy community it is important to educate people and that the warm heartedness of karuna (compassion) is an important factor.
“So I hope through this new technology, it sends information about the usefulness of warm heartedness as well as importance of human intelligence,” he added.
His Holiness also mentioned that it is the first time for him to launch a mobile application in 80 years of his life, and as he walked towards his seat after his speech, he jokingly said, “In order to use this technology fully, I have to take another reincarnation then study more seriously, but in this life. No much hope.”
Also present at the occasion was Sudhir Sharma, Minister of Urban Development, Himachal Pradesh.
Congratulating Himachal Abhi Abhi of Shree Balaji Media Innovations Pvt. Ltd, he wished them all the success in the field.
He further commended on the use of mobile app as a medium to spread the news and suggested to use other mediums as well in the future. He also called on the newly launched media group to work with unbiased opinion and full dedication.
Sudhir Sharma launched the website of the media group, www.himachalabhiabhi.com. The website is available in two languages- Hindi and English.
Himachal Abhi Abhi is the first multimedia company of Himachal Pradesh. It provides news and events happening in Himachal Pradesh to the people. Its mobile app also features Main Bhi Reporter (I am a reporter too) where one can share information on any events happening around them.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama today began four days’ teachings on Je Rinpoche’s “The Three Principal Aspects of the Path”, “The Concise Stages of the Path”, and “Praise to Dependent Arising” at Gyuto Monastery in Sidhbari.
