DHARAMSHALA, February 13: Two Tibetans have died due to stabbing in Majnu Ka Tilla Tibetan settlement in north Delhi, a transit point for several Tibetan travelers and a booming residential cum commercial hub.
The two, a monk and a layperson, were found in a pool of blood apparently due to stabbing near an under construction flyover bridge near Majnu-ka-Tilla, recently renamed Arunanagar colony.
The two were identified as Lobsang Chokta also known as Totsik Choedak, Vice-President of PEN Tibetan Center, and Tenzin Choedak, a monk of Drepung Gomang monastery.
According to Lekyi Dorjee, Settlement Officer of the Tibetan settlement, the policemen doing round-up around the area yesterday found the two Tibetans near the under construction metro lines.
While Tenzin Choedak was found already dead at the site, Lobsang Chokta was still alive when the police found them. However, he succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.
Dorjee further said that Police are investigating the matter as to what actually led to the skirmish or a third person is involved.
While some speculate that one killed the other and then tried to kill oneself, some say that one tried to stop the other trying to kill himself and ended up killing each other.
Tenzin Choedak had just arrived in New Delhi yesterday from Mundgod by Goa Express.
