DHARAMSHALA, January 1: Chinese authorities have arrested a Tibetan youth in Lhasa on December 26 last year.
23-year-old Topgyal, a native of Thragtse Township in Dhingri County, Shigatse Prefecture of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, is believed to be arrested for providing news and information to “separatists” through his writings. However, the exact reason for his arrest and whereabouts remains unclear.
On January 17, last year, Topgyal’s brother Tsewang Dhonden was arrested for allegedly enrolling as a member of the Tibetan Youth Congress, which China blames as “terrorist organization”. He was interrogated and tortured for three-days, sources said.
Topgyal’s parents are Tsewang Tenzin and Ngawang.
