DHARAMSHALA, December 28: The Chinese authorities in Ngaba County have arrested a Tibetan monk from the monastery, to which the lone protester arrested on Friday belongs.
According to Kanyag Tsering, a monk at exile based Kirti monastery with close contacts in the region, 20 year old Lobsang Lungrig was arrested yesterday from the monastery. “It is not known why he was arrested. We don’t know where Lungrig is held, and we are trying to get more information.”
Lungrig, son of Reyrey and Lhamo Dron, is a native of division 5 of Meruma Township in Ngaba County.
On December 26, Lobsang Thinley, a monk of Ngaba Kirti monastery carried out a solitary protest in a market in Ngaba County carrying a picture of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
He also raised slogans calling for the returns of the Dalai Lama and freedom in Tibet.
