DHARAMSHALA, December 5: The Chinese authorities in Rebkong County have released a Tibetan youth jailed for expression of political opposition to the Chinese government before completion of his prison term in Qinghai province on December 2.
Dorjee Rinchen was detained on November 26, 2012, for his involvement in establishing a Tibetan Cultural Service Center, an organization for promotion of Tibetan language and culture and maintaining peace and harmony in the community, in Rebkong. He was the Vice-President of the Tibetan Cultural Service Center.
In February 2013, Rinchen was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and since then he was held in Jianxin prison in Qinghai province until his release.
Upon his return to his house, Rinchen was welcomed by his family and friends and is believed to be in good health condition.
