DHARAMSHALA, October 10: A Tibetan writers’ group called Tibet Writes today launched a new book by one of the most prominent faces among supporters of Rangzen or the complete independence for Tibet, a position differing from the one that is proposed by the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalia Lama and adopted as a policy by the Tibetan government in exile.
Lhasang Tsering, a former president of the largest pro independence group of the Tibetan Diaspora and one of the foremost Tibetans to oppose the Tibetan leader Dalai Lama’s Strasbourg proposal, is also a poet and a writer known for his hardhitting articles and poems. Titled “Random- Ideas and Opinions of a rebel”, Lhasang’s collection of writings was launched by Tibet Write in the presence of his brother Karma Choephel, a member of Tibetan parliament who ran into controversy after his remarks about the middle way approach in the Tibetan parliament, here at Drumstick restaurant in Mcleod Ganj.
The 81-page book consists of extracts from his earlier books-Tomorrow, Wondering, Hold On and Three Nevers. “As the title suggest, these are random thoughts that have occurred to me during my long walks in the hills around McLeod or sitting on my balcony gazing towards my lost homeland,” said Lhasang Tsering at the launch.
Also present at the launch were representatives of Tibetan NGOs.
At the book launch, Lhasang Tsering also announced the completion of the first draft of his upcoming book titled “No, Your Holiness, No”, consisting of 5 major issues why he had said no to the Dalai Lama’s proposed Middle Way Approach and 5 proposal by him to the Tibetan leader who he said had rejected them.
The writer read selective sections from the book, and also answered questions from the audience.
Tibet Writes has published 16 books written by Tibetan writers till now and this is the fourth book by Lhasang Tsering published by Tibet Writes.
