DHARAMSHALA, August 27: Chinese authorities in Tibet’s Zatoe County have detained a Tibetan woman writer on Saturday for writing “politically banned” articles on the Internet.

Dawa Tsomo, a native of Chiza Sachen village in Zatoe County, Yushul Prefecture, has written several articles on various issues including the condition of Tibetans in Kyegudo and how local Chinese officials have failed in their duties while administering the Tibetan people.

The current whereabouts of Tsomo is not known.

Tibetan singers, writers, and artists promoting Tibetan national identity and culture have often been targets of China’s ongoing crackdown on intellectuals, especially after the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
