TCCR “Trainers Training Programme” underway
DHARAMSHALA, August 18: The Dharamshala-based Tibetan Centre for Conflict Resolution today began its two-month residential training programme here at the House of Peace and Dialogue, Tibetan Children’s Village.
The inaugural ceremony of the training was attended by Sonam Dorjee, Dharamshala Settlement Officer; as the Chief Guest, Tsewang Yeshi, President of the Tibetan Children’s Village and representatives of various NGOs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sonam Dorjee said that to lead a meaningful life, moral values is very important, and that lack of it is an issue of concern for the Tibetan community.
“In the past few years, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has given many teachings and introduced Buddhism to youngsters, but the moral values in our youth has nosedived, so we must find out the reasons behind it.”
The training is attended by twenty Tibetans and will conclude on October 20. In its two month of training, the participants will be trained in the concepts, tools and skills of Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Facilitation and Counseling.
Karma Lekshay, Direcor of the Centre said, “As we are a human being, conflict is a part of our life and one that cannot be eliminated but we can change the methods of conflict resolution. Basically, we respond to these conflicts with either peace or violence. When we follow the path of violence, we use various weapons such as swords, guns and explosives. Since this cannot bring happiness in our life, we choose peace and compassion to resolve the conflicts.”
The centre had organized over 250 workshops and trainings in various Tibetan settlements in the past for over 7500 participants.
Founded in 2001, the TCCR is a non-profitable, educational organization dedicated to the non-violent management of conflicts in the Tibetan Community and the world as a whole. The centre highlights the importance of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan culture and traditions and tries to blend it with Western approaches so that the outcome is a genuine and most appropriate set of tools and skills for the community.
