DHARAMSHALA, July 22: In what turned out to be of much relief to Tibetans and followers of the Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama, the office of the Tibetan leader yesterday said newsreports of the Dalai Lama being hospitalized were not true.
Leading Hindi dailies Punjab Kesari and Dainik Jagran have published reports about the Dalai Lama being unwell and being treated at Medanta hospital in Gurgaon.
Speaking to reporters, Chhime Rigzin, Secretary of the Dalai Lama’s private office, said, “His Holiness stayed in Ladakh for a month for Kalachakra Initiation and is very much fine. He reached Delhi on July 17 and was there till July 20 meeting with Indian dignitaries. The reports of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being hospitalized are completely untrue, it is just a rumor. He didn’t step out of his hotel to any hospital.”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in his exile hometown of McLeod Ganj yesterday and was welcomed by Chief Justice Commissioner Ngawang Phegyal, Speaker Penpa Tsering, Minister of Religion and Culture Pema Chhinjor, representatives of various NGOs.
Confirming that there will not be any changes in his upcoming programs, Rigzin called on the Tibetan Nobel laureate’s followers not to worry about his health.
In August, His Holiness will visit Germany and is scheduled to participate in a discussion on Secular Ethics- Human Values in our Lives and give a teachings on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life (Chodjug) and confer an Avalokiteshvera Initiation (chenresig wang jigten wangchuk).
