His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrives in Italy

DHARAMSHALA, 10 June: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama will begin his six day tour of Italy today. The Tibetan leader will arrive at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute in Pomaia, located in the heart of Tuscany later today. This is the Tibetan leader’s 5th visit to Pomaia in Pisa district, Italy.

His Holiness will give a teaching on developing love and compassion at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute on 13 June and also consecrate a 5-meter tall four-armed statue of Avalokiteshwara.

At Livorno city’s Modigliani Forum, His Holiness will give commentaries on the great Buddhist scholar Nagarjuna’s Nagarjuna’s Letter to a Friend (shetring) on 14 June.
His Holiness will also give Avalokiteshvara Jigten Wangchuk empowerment on the morning of 15 June and a public talk on Ethics and Compassion in the afternoon.

Live webcasts of the teachings and the public talk will be available on here with simultaneous translations into Italian, English, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

Founded in 1977, Lama Tzong Khapa Institute is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist centres of learning in Europe offering regular courses on Buddhism.

The Institute runs the Liberation Prison Project, which offers spiritual advice and teachings to prisoners interested in Tibetan Buddhism. The project has touched the hearts of thousands of prisoners in Italy. Around 1200 prisoners in Milan will watch the Tibetan leader’s teachings live on the Internet.

This is His Holiness the Dalai Lama 25th visit to Italy with the first taking place in September 1973.
