DHARAMSHALA, April 18: The Tibet Policy Institute today concluded its two day conference on “Central Tibetan Administration’s international efforts” here at Nyatri hall in Gangchen Kyishong.
Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay today presided over a panel discussion, which was attended by senior officials of the Tibetan government and students.
“There are many nations in the world struggling and fighting for their political rights and among them, the Tibet cause is recognized to have major support on the international platform and has become known to everyone,” said Tibetan PM Sangay.
Commending the works of former officials of Tibetan government, he said, “We now have many young members serving the administration, and if we compare them with the CTA staff in our initial days, may be the present generation are more educated and knowledgeable, but we have to find out if the present generation is more or even be at par with the level of the dedication, humility and hard work of our older generations.”
Kelsang Gyaltsen, Special Representative to Europe; Tashi Phuntsok, Secretary of Department of Information and International Relations; Ngawang Rabgyal, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Russia; Dawa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Taiwan; Kaydor Aukatsang, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to North America and Tsewang Phuntsok, Liaison Officer to Latin America were among the key speakers at the conference.
The Tibetan administration’s international efforts are directed at persuading the Chinese government to resolve the issue of Tibet through discussions with the representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Talking about the Sino-Tibet dialogue and responsibility of Europe and the International community, Kelsang Gyaltsen said, “It is clear that Kashag, (Tibetan cabinet) is committed to Middle Way Approach in solving the crisis in Tibet and at present the representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama seek help from Foreign Ministers, members of Parliament in their regions to resume dialogue with China and to apprise them that the Tibetan administration is always ready for dialogue, at any given time and place.”
Tibet Policy Institute is a policy think tank of the exile administration started months after Sangay assumed office following his victory in the elections held in 2011.
