NEW DELHI, December 10 – Ten Tibetan youth were arrested and later released yesterday by the Delhi Police after they carried out a protest against the Chinese government’s “repressive policies in Tibet and its blatant violation of human rights in Tibet” on the eve of the World Human Rights Day.
The Tibetans, mostly students of Delhi University, shouted slogans demanding for respect of human rights of the Tibetans in Tibet and unconditional surrender of Chinese leaders named recently by a Spanish court in its verdict.
The Tibetan source told Phayul that the youth who did not belong any particular organization were expressing their resentment against the Chinese government for its poor human rights record in Tibet where 123 Tibetans have so far set themselves ablaze demanding freedom in Tibet and the return of the exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
A Tibetan youth who was among the ten arrested by the Police said they condemn the Chinese government’s forcing the Tibetans to express loyalty towards the Chinese government by ordering them to hoist Chinese national flags atop their houses.
The youth were detained briefly at the Chanakyapuri Police Station before their release in the evening.
