DHARAMSHALA, April 18: Attending as the Chief Guest at the sixth annual General Body Meeting of the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce, the Tibetan Prime Minister Dr. Lobsang Sangay assured his full help to the Chamber of Commerce.
Acknowledging the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce for staying tuned to the policy of his cabinet – unity, innovation and self-reliance, Dr. Lobsang said “sometimes, I used to get invitations from business organizations abroad to attend their functions, so in case, if I get such invitations in future, I will let you know (Chamber of Commerce) to join me, so that, I can introduce you to them (abroad business people or organizations).”
The Tibetan prime minister also urged the Chamber of Commerce to tie up with Tibetan vocational training centers or institutions to create job opportunities for the young Tibetans.
“The logo of the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce is ‘business with ethics of Buddhism,’ so I am hopeful that you will create job opportunities for the young Tibetans and benefit the Tibetan society,” Dr. Lobsang Sangay.
“China is supposed to be a socialist country but they have their own system ‘socialism with Chinese Characteristics,’ so let us have ‘Tibetan business with ethics of Buddhism,” the Tibetan prime minister joked.
When the Tibetan prime minister announced that his government is in plan of setting up a Tibetan community bank in near future, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Kesang Norbu told Phayul that his business body will embrace the opportunity to collaborate if the Central Tibetan Administration permits them to do so.
“We are gaining membership every year, and we are dreaming to collaborate with other chamber of Commerce in respective countries at international level which is difficult but not impossible,” Kesang Norbu said “if our Central Tibetan Administration permits to collaborate in setting up the community bank, we will embrace that opportunity.”
Tsering Namgyal, accountant of the Chamber of Commerce said that the budget of the business body is also increasing every year.
“Last year, our estimated budget is just Rs 50, 8000 where as this year, our estimated budget is Rs 90, 1000,” Tsering Namgyal said.
