DHARAMSHALA, October 10: Amidst reports of continued self immolations inside Tibet, Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay today convened a one-day meeting of the Task Force on Negotiations (TFN) at the Kashag Secretariat in the exile seat of Dharamshala.

The meeting was attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy Kasur Gyari Rinpoche, Envoy Kesang Gyaltsen, Ms Dicki Chhoyang, Kalon for the Department of Information & International Relations, Mr Ngodup Dongchung, Kalon for Department of Security, Kasur Tempa Tsering, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Representative in New Delhi and other members based in India.

Presiding over the TFN meeting for the first time, Dr Sangay reportedly reviewed the dialogue process between the envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the representatives of the government of People’s Republic of China.

Speaking to Phayul, spokesperson for the Central Tibetan Administration Thubten Samphel declined to give details of the meeting.

However, Samphel confirmed that no new faces were added to the TFN.

In an earlier interview with Phayul, Dr Sangay had proposed a reshuffling of the TFN members.

The TFN was set up in 1999 to assist the Dalai Lama’s envoys in the dialogue process with the Chinese government.

This is the first TFN meeting since His Holiness the Dalai Lama devolved his political authorities to the elected Tibetan leadership.

The ninth and the last round of Sino-Tibet dialogue was held in Beijing in January 2010.
