DHARAMSHALA, September 19: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived here Monday amid warm welcome from Tibetans, foreign tourists and local Indians. The Tibetan leader was received at the Gagal airport by the speaker of the Tibetan parliament and Kalon Tripa Lobsang Sangay.

The Dalai Lama was away on 10-day-trip to South America and Canada. He gave Buddhist teachings and lectures in Montreal, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

The Dalai Lama also met with Argentinean Nobel Peace Laureate Adolfo Perez Esquivel in Argentina where a record 30000 people turned out to listen to teachings by the Tibetan leader.

“I admire His Holiness very much, and this is my first time seeing the Dalai Lama in person, I feel blessed,” said Hemish, an Indian tourist from Kerala.

“I thought I might not see him here in the town but now I can tell my friends and family back in Kerala that I saw His Holiness in person,” the South Indian said.

His Holiness will give a four-day teaching on Nagarjuna’s In Praise of Dhammadhatu (choying toepa) at his main temple on the request of a group of Taiwanese devotees from October 1.
