Dharamsala, Dec 21 – Three Tibetan monks wanted by the Chinese authorities in connection with a protest in Za-khok Township have arrived in exile, according to the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy based here.
The three were identified as Lobsang Norbu, (30), Khedup Gyatso, (24), and Kunga Rinchen (26), all belonging to Gonsar Monastery in Za-Khok Township, Derge County of Kardze Tibet Autonomous Prefecture Sichuan Province.
The authorities forced the monks to denounce His Holiness the Dalai Lama which led to the protest by the monks on September 10 last year.
The monks had pasted anti-China posters and hoisted the banned Tibetan national flag around the monastery premises demanding independence for Tibet, according to the TCHRD.
The monks wrote their names on the posters to avoid trouble for the other monks of the monastery and fled the area.
The local Chinese authorities have announced a reward of 50,000 Yuan (over USD 7,500) for information about the monks.
Fearing arrest and eventual incarceration in Chinese prison, the three fled Tibet on October 7 this year and reached the Nepalese capital Kathmandu via Nepal-Tibet border on October 30 after 23 days of walk.
The three registered themselves at the Tibetan Reception Center here on November 15, 2010.
