Dharamsala, Dec 10: A Tibetan Lama based in exile has been honoured with a prestigious “Bharat Jyoti Award” for his commendable social services.
His Eminence Mindrolling Khenchen Rinpoche was presented the award during the conference of “Global Participation in India’s Economic Development” at New Delhi, organized by India International Friendship Society last week.
Cabinet ministers from the Centre (New Delhi) and various States, Members of Parliament, Industrialists, Social Workers and intelligentsia had attended the event.
The award is given to individuals who have specialized in various fields like the science and technology, education, industry, fine arts, politics and social work in lieu of the yeoman services rendered with excellence in their respective fields.
Minling Khenchen Rinpoche received the award for his excellence in meritorious service, outstanding performance and remarkable role he has played in his own capacity in different countries, his office said.
“Rinpoche would like to express his thanks to all the members of Mindrolling Eastern Sun Group for their kind support and continues hard work due to which he received this Prestigious Award,” a statement issued by his office said.
Minling Khenchen Rinpche, considered the second highest in hierarchy of Mindrolling Lineage, was born in 1970. Since very young age he was recognized as the reincarnation of Minling Khenchen Ngawang Khenrab Gyatso. He finished his education of Buddhist Philosophy in Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, under the special guidance of Penor Rinpoche.
Rinpoche has received numerous transmissions and empowerments from His Holiness Dalai Lama, Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyenste Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche, Trulzhig Rinpoche, and many other respected Teachers.
Rinpoche currently presides over the Shedra of Mindrolling Ngagyur Nyingma College, in Dehradun in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. He is the founder of Mindrolling Eastern Sun Group Lay Association and is also the Vice Chairman of World Peace Prayer ceremony.
His Eminence has been travelling around the world since 15 years giving Buddhist Teachings.
