Dharamsala, September 17: His Holiness the Dalai Lama returns to Hungary today after ten years to give teachings and a talk in parliament and to receive an honorary title in Budapest.

The Lama will give a public teaching entitled “Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism” in two parts in the Papp Laszlo sports hall on Saturday.

In the afternoon Budapest Mayor Gabor Demszky will present the Lama honorary citizenship of Budapest for his work in promoting peace and a violence-free world, and in preserving spiritual and cultural values.

On the next day he is scheduled to give a public teaching about the art of happiness and answer questions from the audience.

Tickets were reportedly sold out for the two days event a month before His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit.

According to organisers 22,400 tickets have been sold for the weekend event, which can be followed real time at www.dalailama-budapest.hu on the internet.

The Lama’s programme on Monday includes a meeting with MPs and an address in parliament, to be followed by a press conference, Hungarian portal caboodle.hu has reported.

The Lama last visited Hungary in 2000. This will be his seventh visit.
