Dharamsala, September 15 – A Tibetan Buddhist centre in southern France says His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit the city of Toulouse next summer, an AP report said.
The Institut Vajra Vogini in the southern French town of Lavaur said today that the Tibetan spiritual leader will give teachings and attend a public conference at a Toulouse auditorium from August 13-15.
The Dalai Lama last visited the city in 1993 and 1982.
Bilateral relations between China and France soured in 2008 after protests by exiled Tibetans and other activists during the Olympic torch’s passage through Paris and President Nicolas Sarkozy’s meeting in Poland with the Dalai Lama, whom Beijing reviles as a ‘separatist’ seeking independence for Tibet. However, the Dalai Lama repeatedly asserts that he is seeking genuine autonomy for Tibet within the People’s Republic of China.
French capital city Paris last year honored the Tibetan leader with “Citizen of Honour” award.
