Dharamsala, July 31: At least four people were killed and over 19 injured in an explosion at a local tax office in central China on Friday afternoon, Chinese state media said.
The police are suspecting that the blast at a district tax office in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, was a deliberate attack.
An explosion went off on the third floor of a branch of Furong District’s taxation office on Hengda Road near a downtown residential block at about 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
Quoting a statment from the city’s police, Xinhua said that initial investigations have showed the explosion was a planned attack.
In yet another separate case in northeast China’s Jilin Province, one person was killed and 20 were injured Friday in a series of explosions in a barber’s shop in provincial capital Changchun.
Citing witnesses, Xinhua said atleast four explosions hit the shop.
The police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
China has winessed growing violence in public venues. The latest incidents are being seen in line with the violence that has exploded in the recent past due to the public angst over various socio-economic issues including the cost of health care and the widening rich-poor gap.
