Dharamsala, June 15 – At least 17 people have died and six others are missing after a mountain collapsed on work sheds at a construction site in Sichuan Province early Tuesday morning, the official news agency Xinhua reported.
The accident took place at a construction site in Pengta Town, Kangding County, Kardze (Ch:Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
Seven were injured in the accident, among whom three were severely wounded, Xinhua added
The collapse was caused by a landslide which is common in Sichuan during monsoon. Last month, at least 19 people were killed and another 71 injured when a train derailed in a mountainous area of east China after a landslide damaged the tracks.
