Dharamsala, March 19 – Chinese authorities in Ditsa Township, Bayan (Ch: Hualong) have arrested three Tibetans for allegedly pasting pamphlets around a monastery and shut down a school run by the monastery.
According to the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, posters calling for return of the exiled Tibetan leader Dalai Lama and ‘end to repression in Tibet’ were found pasted in Ditsa monastery campus on March 14, the second anniversary of the protests in Lhasa in 2008.
Tulku Woeser, (age unknown), Yeshi, 20, and Jamyang, 19, were taken to Hualong PSB office for interrogation while the monastery was surrounded by armed security force from the Public Security Bureau and People’s Armed Police. Tulku Woser was released after two days in detention while the other two are still held.
The Chinese authorities had earlier on March 8 ordered Sherig Rinchen Norling School, a subsidiary school under Ditsa monastery which it started in 1992, to be shut down without giving any reasons.
