Dharamshala: The eighth session of the 14th Tibetan Parliament in Exile opened here at the premises of Gangchen Kyishong, the administrative headquarters of the exile Tibetan government.
Penpa Tsering, the speaker of the Tibetan parliament expressed gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his blessings to humanity and for the continuous efforts towards the cause of Tibet.
The speaker also paid his respects to the Tibetans who have lost their lives for Tibet, and those who always stands up for Tibet even at a critical juncture in Tibet’s history.
The speaker also expressed his hope that the visits of Tibetan members of parliament to various Tibetan communities in India and Nepal have been fruitful.
The Tibetan parliament also paid its respects and tribute to three eminent personalities who passed away recently, US senator Edward M Kennedy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy and former member of Tibetan parliament Gonshar Tashi Wangdue.
Presentation of annual work reports by the seven departments of the exile Tibetan government occupied the first day of the session.
