Brussels 14 March: The fast unto death of three Tibetans in front of the Chinese Embassy in Brussels entered its 6th day today.

The three hunger strikers have been sitting under a tent in front of the Embassy without food since March 10, the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan national uprising day.

According to an update sent from the site by Tsewang Rinzin, the president of the largest pro-independence group in exile Tibetan community, the three Tibetans have already shown signs of physical weakness.

“But their spirit and determination are as strong as the truth of our cause,” said Tsewang Rigzin,

The three are updated daily with news on Tibet. “The fact that a Buddhist monk can be forced to such an extent of frustration indicate the desperation our people feel inside Tibet.” Thupten Samdup, one of the hunger strikers, said when informed about the current condition of Tabey, the monk set himself on fire to protest against China.

“To shoot an unarmed monk like that is insane, where is the response from the UN and the international community?”.

Sonam Rinchen, another hunger striker, said, “those who shot Tabey must be held responsible and penalized according to the standards of the international law”.

“This is how the Tibetans have been treated under China for the last 60 years. We will never live under China,” Namgyal Wangdu, the youngest participant and Cultural Secretary of RTYC Belgium quickly added.

A memorandum about this Indefinite Fast has been submitted to the offices of the President of the European Parliament, Czech Presidency of the EU, President of the European Commission, Secretary General of the Council of the European Union and Embassy of China in Belgium.

The fast is organized by Tibetan Youth Congress with the support of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Belgium.
