Dharamsala, Jan. 31: Indian supporters led by Dr Mahesh Yadav, who set on a nation wide rally from Bhopal a month ago, arrived here today. Founder of Mahatma Gandhi Tibet Freedom Movement, Yadav has been a staunch supporter of Tibet for many years. ‘Blood Man’ as he is often referred to as, Yadav is known for his blood campaign of writing petitions with his own blood.
“Free Tibet, Security of India, and Violence and Terrorism Free World” are the message of this countrywide “Jago Bharat Jago Tibet Yatra” (wake up India, wake up Tibet).
The yatra (Hindi:journey), covering India’s twelve biggest states, include regular press conferences, public seminars and discussions on the issues related to Tibet all along its way.
Yadav believes it is important for the Tibetan issue to be made familiar to the general Indian public which can eventually bring in power a government that supports Tibet’s freedom.
“We are targeting the Hindi speaking regions where Tibet is sometimes not even heard of. We got to places where people have not even heard of a country called Tibet, and some even did not know where China lies on the atlas.
Dr. Yadav urged United Nations, Government of India, world leaders and, all Nobel Peace Laureates and Human Rights and Peace-award winners to support the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibetan people in their struggle to “save Tibet for world peace”.
“We talk about rights of animals, human rights, women’s rights etc, then why are we silent on the issue of Tibet?” Dr Yadav asks.
He warns that failure to support and help fulfill the peaceful and non-violent struggle of Dalai Lama will endanger world peace in the long run.
Tenzin Choeying, president of Students for a Free Tibet, India, thanked Yadav for his tireless efforts in creating awareness about Tibet among the general Indian public.
“An Indian who has been constantly supporting the Tibetan cause not just with words but with action through his selfless campaign is truly commendable. Doing something for an alien cause with your own money, time and energy is not an easy thing to do, so I am very grateful to Yadav ji for his help.”
