Dalai Lama to present Unsung Heroes Award to Israeli researcher

Dec. 25 – Dr. Galia Sabar of Tel Aviv University has won the prestigious Unsung Heroes Award in recognition of her ongoing academic research and social activity in the fields of Ethiopian Jews and the African migrant labor community in Israel. The Award is granted by the Dalai Lama under the auspices of California-based organization Wisdom in Action. Sabar, the Chairperson of African Studies at TAU?s Department of African History, coordinator of African Studies at the S. Daniel Abraham Center for International and Regional Studies and board member of the Hotline for Migrant Workers organization, is the first Israeli to win this award.
